Gillette India Limited or GILLETTE

The Company was incorporated in 1984, is a renowned player in the FMCG industry and works in the manufacturing business of Blades and Razors, Oral care and Portable Power. Also, it created several brands, such as Duracell, Oral–B, MACH3 Turbo, and 7 o'clock. The Company has several manufacturing units located at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan and Baddi in Himachal Pradesh.

Some of the Milestones:

  • 1984– The Company was incorporated as Indian Shaving Products.
  • 1990–91– To manufacture 7 O'clock Ejtek PII Twin Blade Shaving System, the company increased its capacity.
  • 1993– On February, the company launched several Gillette Shaving Products.
  • 1995–96– Gillette India also introduced ready shaver under the brand name 7 O'clock Ready II.
  • Then, the company entered into a distribution agreement and launched an international brand known as Oral B.
  • 2000– The Company rechristened as Gillette India after the merger of Duracell (India) and Wilkinson Sword India with itself.
  • 2001– The Company introduced product lines such as Gillette Series Arctic Ice. The same year, the company launched the Gillette Series Satin Care for Women Wild Berry Line, and the Cool Blue Mach 3, and the Gillette Centennial Packs.
  • 2003–Both Gillette Vector Plus and Ultra M3AA batteries were launched.
  • 2004–The Gillette Mach3 Turbo- a triple-blade shaving system was launched in 2004.
  • 2005–Procter & Gamble Company, USA acquired the Gillette Company, USA. Then, Gillette India became part of Procter & Gamble Company, USA.
  • 2006–07– For manufacturing blades and razors, the company established a manufacturing unit at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh.

P&G (Parent Company):

The Gillette India is a part of one of the leading global FMCG players named P&G and being a parent company and also operates in about 80 countries globally. P&G has an employee strength of approximately 138,000 people. Though, it began as a small family-oriented company that was engaged in the business of soap and candle. Currently, it has a portfolio of leading brands such as Pampers, Tide, Ariel, Always, Bounty, Pantene, Pringles, Charmin, Downy, Iams, Crest, Actonel, and Olay.

Some Future Plans:

The company is planning to work on strengthening the product portfolio by introducing new and innovative products.
