The company was initially incorporated as Sea Breeze Constructions and Investments Private Limited as on February 8, 1985, under the Companies Act, 1956 with the RoC. The Company name was changed to Godrej Properties and Investments Private Limited under a special resolution of the shareholders with the date July 2, 1990. In 1991, the company status was changed to a deemed public company after the deletion of the word “Private” from the company name. Consequently, the status was changed to a public limited company under a special resolution of the members passed at the extraordinary general meeting on August 1, 2001. Its name was further changed to Godrej Properties Limited under a special resolution of the members passed at the public meeting on November 23, 2004. The Godrej Properties is a realty firm of Godrej group that was promoted by Godrej Industries and Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company. It was established in 1897, and the Godrej group has grown in India from the days of the charkha to nights at call centers. Its founder named Ardeshir Godrej, lawyer–turned–locksmith was a determined inventor with an influential visionary, who could see the spark in the future. His brother Pirojsha Godrej manufactured his several inventions, and it became the foundation of today’s Godrej Empire. Soon, the company entered into its first project in 1991. But, initially, it concentrated its operations in the Mumbai Metropolitan region and later expanded to several other cities such as Pune, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Mangalore, Chandigarh, and Chennai. The Company is also one leading real estate development company in India that is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Currently, it has real estate development projects in 10 different cities in India with several stages of development.
