HINDALCO
Hindalco Industries, which is the metals flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, is also an industry leader in aluminum and copper. Also, a metals powerhouse, along with a consolidated turnover of about INR 600, 128 million ($ 15 billion). Also, it is the world's largest aluminum rolling company and one of the biggest producers of primary aluminum in Asia. Its copper smelter is also the world's largest custom smelter at a single location. It was established in 1958, and it also commissioned its aluminum facility located at Renukoot in Eastern U.P. in 1962. Soon after, acquisitions and mergers, with Indal, Birla Copper and the Nifty and Mt.Gordon copper mines in Australia, made a robust position of the company in value-added alumina, aluminum and copper products, and with vertical integration via access to the captive copper concentrates. In the year 2007, the acquisition of Novelis Inc., this is a world leader in aluminum rolling and can be recycling marked a vital milestone in the history of the aluminum industry in India. Along with, Novelis under its fold, the company ranks among the global top five aluminum majors, which is an integrated producer with low-cost alumina and aluminum facilities being combined with high-end rolling capabilities and a global footprint in about 12 countries overseas. Also, its combined turnover of about US$ 15 billion, places it in the Fortune 500 league. It also enjoys a leadership position in aluminum and copper in India. Also, its aluminum units across the country encompass the whole gamut of operations from alumina refining, bauxite mining, extrusions, aluminum smelting to downstream rolling, foils and alloy wheels, along with captive power plants & coal mines. Also, the Birla Copper unit produces copper cathodes, and continuous cast copper rods along with several other by-products, including silver, gold, and DAP fertilizers.

- Novelis Inc:Novelis Inc. is the world's leading aluminum rolled products producer based on shipment volume. The company produces an estimated 19% of the world's flat-rolled aluminum products and is the prominent producer in Europe and South America, and also the second-largest in North America and Asia. In 2009, it shipped 2.9 million tonnes of aluminum products and also reported net sales of about $10.2 billion.
- Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd:It is the largest pure copper company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. It also owns 51% of Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd (or ABML), which is a company with 100% holding in Birla Nifty Pty Limited and Birla Mt. Gordon Pty Limited being located in Western Australia and Queensland. ABML is also an S&P ASX 300 Index company, which is the largest pure copper company being listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
- Hindalco-Almex Aerospace Ltd:HAAL is a joint venture among Hindalco Industries Limited and Almex USA being incorporated. It manufactures high-strength aluminum alloys for several applications in the areas of aerospace, sporting goods, and surface transport industries. The Company also holds 70% equity whereas Almex holds the balance 30%.

Some of the Milestones:
- 2013: The first metal was tapped at Mahan Aluminium. Also, the Utkal Alumina Refinery goes on stream.
- 2011: It successfully achieved financial closure of the Mahan Project with the signing of the Common Rupee Loan Agreement for INR 7,875 crores.
- 2009: QIP - rose about $600 million for several projects, which is the largest straight QIP in India.
- 2008: The alumina expansion at Muri. Right issue - it raised a total of INR 4,426 crore for refinancing bridge loan being taken for Novelis acquisition. Also, the Hindalco Almex Aerospace Limited facility became operational and produced the largest aluminum billet of about 42’’ diameter.
- 2007: The successful acquisition of Novelis, and made it the largest in aluminum rolling as well as among the global top five metals majors, along with a presence in 11 countries overseas. Also, the acquisition of Alcan's 45% equity stake in the Utkal Alumina project, thus making Hindalco the 100% project owner.
- 2003: It also acquired Nifty Copper Mine in March 2003 via Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd. (or ABML, formerly Birla Minerals Resources Pty. Ltd.).
- Also, ABML acquired the Mount Gordon copper mines in November 2003.
- 1962: The commencement of production at Renukoot (in UP) with an initial capacity of about 20,000 mtpa of aluminum metal as well as 40,000 mtpa of alumina.
- 1958: The incorporation of Hindalco Industries Limited took place.

- 2010: Hindalco Renukoot received the Golden Peacock Award 2010 for the corporate social responsibility.
- 2009:Also, its power division won the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award at the Global Convention on Climate Security.

- It received the Greentech Safety Gold Award 2008.
- Also, Hindalco Hirakud Systems ranked runners up at the state level IT Competition 2008 being organized by CII in association with the department of IT (informational technology), Government of Orissa.
- Also, Talabira coal mines bagged a host of safety awards such as, first in working face as well as maintenance of Dozer & Payloader and second in the dust suppression during the Annual Coal Mines Safety Fortnight 2008 being organized by Directorate of Mines Safety, Bhubaneswar and Chaibasa region.
- Also, the Hirakud smelter received the state-level safety award for Best Occupational Healthcare 2006 - given in February 2008 at Bhubaneswar.
