ATUL
It was incorporated in 1947, with the name Atul Ltd, or formerly Atul Products Ltd that was founded by Kasturbhai Lalbhai. He had a dream to make the country completely self-reliant in chemicals, and generating more opportunities for employment on a large scale, along with creating the wealth for the society. And for translating his dream into reality, he brought his confidant named, Ballubhai Muzumdar, who was an economist and his son named,Siddharth Kasturbhai Lalbhai, who was a chemical engineer, for leading Atul Ltd and establishing a large chemical corporation. It is also a member of the Lalbhai Group, which is one of the oldest business houses of India, along with the interests specifically in textiles and chemicals. It is a strongly committed company that served the society in the sectors of health, education, and culture. It is also the first private sector company of India that was being inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the first PM of India. It commenced its business, along with a few dyestuffs, and the know-how of which was brought from foreign companies. Over several years, it also joined hands with the American Cyanamid Corp (1952), Imperial Chemical Industries plc (1955) and the Ciba–Geigy Ltd (1960) to form three joint venture companies. And consequently, to the global divestment of dyes and polymers business done by Zeneca plc (formerly a part of ICI plc) and Ciba Ltd respectively, Atic Industries Ltd and Cibatul Ltd were being merged into Atul Ltd in the years 1995 and 1998, respectively. It operates via six different business divisions such as Agrochemicals, Colors, Aromatics, Bulk Chemicals & Intermediates, Pharmaceuticals & Intermediates, and Polymers. Every business works towards the company's vision, as it develops and implements its growth plans. Its registered office is located in the Ahmedabad whereas its corporate headquarters is located in Atul, Gujarat. It is also listed on the NSE in India and has more than 35,000 shareholders, and its offices are in the UK, the USA, Germany, China, and Vietnam that service its international consumers. In the year 2012–13, it established a cultured tissue date palm production facility in Jodhpur that was for the first time in the country.
